I have not forgotten about the blog or Mission: Head to Toe! This deputation life we’re living has a way of throwing any kind of writing routine right out the car window.
Meanwhile, Mission: Head to Toe is complete and I’m super thrilled to let you know that it was a success! There were a few times I wondered if it was going to take off, but I should have known better. I do not have an exact count for you right now, because all of the hats and shoes are waiting for me in Ohio. We’ll be picking those up next week and transporting them to a container in Mobile, AL which will be shipped to Honduras this month.
You might remember that the shoe drive was in partnership with friends of the Honduras ministry from Tennessee, who were heading one up themselves. They are visiting the ministry for Thanksgiving and taking TEN PLASTIC TUBS full of new shoes, needed items and Christmas gifts. What a blessing!
A church in Eden Prairie, MN raised money for work boots for the older boys at the Home. Our Tennessee friends came up with a list of 6 boys who really needed the boots. When the money came and they went shopping, the donated funds were EXACTLY enough money to buy 6 pairs of good quality boots! God is so good!
A church in Runnells, IA did a hat drive for us while we were visiting them for a mission’s conference. The sweet people of their church donated over 60 brand new hats!
A lady in Ohio went to a yard sale and found a basket full of new hats. She told the seller what they were for and he gave them all to her for free! (I apologize for all of the exclamation points, but I am so excited!)
So many other friends, relatives, and strangers donated their time and money for shoes and hats–I sincerely pray that each one of you will be especially blessed for the love you have shown to “the least of these”.
I can’t wait to count them all up and let you all know exactly how much was donated.
For now, I’ll simply end this post with this:
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
This is why we do it folks. For the glory of God. Because He is worthy!
