Early Anniversary Trip

Our 10th wedding anniversary is May 28th of this year. Wow, ten years has flown! It has been the best ten years of my life, and it just keeps getting better.

We wanted to do something special, but weren’t sure how to plan a child-free get-away  with our busy travel schedule and crazy life. I figured we’d probably just end up going to a nice restaurant one night in May.

So, imagine my surprise when Adam told me his parents were meeting us near Orlando to watch the kids for a few days so we could have an early anniversary trip!

Of course, the first thing I think of when I hear Orlando is Disney World, but obviously that wasn’t happening on a missionary budget. (No complaints, just keeping things real). I have to admit, it kinda killed me to be so close to the Magic Kingdom without actually going in. It has been added to my bucket list. Don’t judge. I kind of wondered what in the world we could find to do without visiting any of the expensive theme parks.

As it turns out, there are plenty of ways to have an awesome time in Orlando without spending your life savings! We spent a day walking around Downtown Disney, (free), sampled chocolate at the Ghirardelli shop, went up in a hot air balloon (check that off my bucket list), ate at several fun restaurants, and walked around a nearby outlet mall.

Edit

We found an amazing deal on a hotel, using Priceline.  I told Adam that all I wanted to do was sit by the pool, in the sun, with my eyes closed, without worrying about whether or not a child was drowning. So we did that. But the pool had such a fun pirate ship waterslide, that we had to let the kids come spend a day with us and try it out. 😉

We spent the rest of the time relaxing, reading, and catching up on uninterrupted conversations.

It was a wonderful trip!
