Coming soon…a way for you to donate financially to specific fundraisers and projects through Coffee with Sprinkles.

While this blog is not just a fundraising blog, I am aware that there are many people who wish to give financially to Hogar de Amor Children’s Home, where our family will be working. Our primary goal is always to meet their basic spiritual and physical needs, but we desire to go beyond that, focusing on those extra sprinkles that make life sweet. We do not wish to clutter up their hearts with materialism and fancy things, but we do wish nurture them in a loving environment where they know that they are precious in God’s sight and ours.

A few things we will be focusing on:

Birthdays — every child should know that the day he was born deserves to be celebrated!

Bedding & Simple Room Decor — creating more of a homelike atmosphere and less of an institutional one

Clothing & Shoes

Arts & Crafts, Toys, Books, Balls & Dolls

Cards & Correspondence — establishing life-long relationships

Practical Skills, Discipleship & Mentoring

Many of the children at Hogar de Amor are sponsored by individuals through Central American Missions, a church-run organization in Birmingham, Alabama. Many have established close relationships with their sponsors. Please visit their website to learn more about how you can help meet their basic monthly needs for about the same cost as one family meal at your favorite sit-down restaurant.

Hogar de Amor also has a Facebook page where you can get to know the children at the home a little better through periodic pictures and status updates. Be sure to check it out!

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Matthew 25:35-40
